World Cup Rules for Women…-.-

June 10th, 2006 by lynst82

GOt this in my mail yesterday…

U probably hav seen it since its circulating fast….

But if u haven’t, MUST HAVE A READ…^.*

_______________________________________________________________________

LIST OF RULES

  • From 9th June to 9th July 2006, you should read the sports section of the newspaper so that you are aware of what is going on regarding the World Cup, and that way you will be able to join in the conversations. If you fail to do this, then you will be looked at in a bad way, or you will be totally ignored. DO NOT complain about not receiving any attention.
  • During the World Cup, the television is mine, at all times, without any exceptions. If you even take a glimpse of the remote control, you will lose it (your eye).
  • If you have to pass by in front of the TV during a game, I don’t mind, as long as you do it crawling on the floor and without distracting me. If you decide to stand nude in front of the TV, make sure you put clothes on right after because if you catch a cold, I wont have time to take you to the doctor or look after you during the World Cup month.
  • During the games I will be blind, deaf and mute, unless I require a refill of my drink or something to eat. You are out of your mind if you expect me to listen to you, open the door, answer the telephone, or pick up the baby that just fell from the second floor… it wont happen.
  • It would be a good idea for you to keep at least 2 six packs in the fridge at all times, as well as plenty of things to nibble on, and please do not make any funny faces to my friends when they come over to watch the games. In return, you will be allowed to use the TV between 12am and 6am, unless they replay a good game that I missed during the day.
  • Please, please, please!! if you see me upset because one of my teams is losing, DO NOT say “get over it, its only a game”, or “don’t worry, they’ll win next time”. If you say these things, you will only make me angrier and I will love you less.

Remember, you will never ever know more about football than me and your so called “words of encouragement” will only lead to a break up or divorce.

  • You are welcome to sit with me to watch one game and you can talk to me during halftime but only when the commercials are on, and only if the halftime score is pleasing me. In addition, please note I am saying “one” game, hence do not use the World Cup as a nice cheesy excuse to “spend time together”.
  • The replays of the goals are very important. I don’t care if I have seen them or I haven’t seen them, I want to see them again. Many times.
  • Tell your friends NOT to have any babies, or any other child related parties or gatherings that requires my attendance
    because:
    (a) I will not go,
    (b) I will not go, and
    (c) I will not go.

But, if a friend of mine invites us to his house on a Sunday to watch a game, we will be there in a flash.

  • The daily World Cup highlights show on TV every night is just as important as the games themselves. Do not even think about saying “but you have already seen this…why don’t you change the channel to something we can all watch??”, the reply will be: “Refer to Rule #2 of this list”.
  • And finally, please save your expressions such as “Thank God the World Cup is only every 4 years”. I am immune to these words, because after this comes the Champions League, Premier League, Italian League, Spanish League, etc etc.

Thank you for your co-operation.

Regards,
Men of the World

I’m in a TEENY bit cultural shock this week.

Why?…well…

  • That day, my 12-YEARS-OLD cousin sis gave me a VIVID & DETAIL reccomendation to an online game she’s playing…oh, & asked for my MSN address too.

Comments:

Yes, i’m presuming the next time i meet her, she’ll probably have started her personal BLOG, selling stuff in EBAY & maybe operating her own ONLINE company…-.-

  • Then, i found out that my 4-YEARS OLD cousin sis’s favourite song is cao ge’s "SUPERWOMAN" (psst…she can memorize the whole song) & any JOLIN TSAI’s songs…=|

Comment:

Next time just buy pop albums for your toddlers cousins for birthday. Children songs and nursery rhymes?…nah, too childish!

And, to add icing to the cake…

  • TODAY, my 13-YRS-OLD ex-student jz sms to inform me of her change of phone no yet again ( probably the 3rd or 4th time since end of last year) and when i asked her hows her holiday…

"A little boring lar…coz have to WORK mar …"

Comment:

OH…she did invite me to her place of work, if i’m free…very thoughtful =)

SO, i’m kinda in a dilemma now…

i’m in the midst of wondering why i’m finding all these a bit not normal…=>

is it bcoz i’m getting…older?…or am i getting younger? ;p

Spotting of Unidentified Funny Object(U.F.O)! Happenings_003_3

Nobody knew where it came from.

Nobody gave it to Panda.

X-Men 3 v Da Vinci Code

June 5th, 2006 by lynst82

Few reasons why i prefer X Men 3 more than DV Code : -

  • The CAST

Da_vinci_code_3THis is wat we got for DV Code…

I know…

aren’t the most interesting characters…

RIGHTO? =|

AND….

THESE is wat we got from X MEN …

  Storm   Bobby_and_kitty    Angel                                              Kid_omega_2   Cool_1

AND we even have some Chinese Representatives, like KID OMEGA - the porcupine thing above *.* and the cool girl Psylockefirst from the right below…with purple hair

                   Baddies3_1

  • The PACE

O K… DV Code’s a BIT s-l-o-w for me…X MEN not really THAT fast too…but at least they got some really cool fighting scene like…

Ice_and_fire_1The IceMan against THe Fire-guy

Nice to see Bobby(The Iceman) actually fighting with confidence…

you know, he alwiz look kinda scared…;p

But love the twist at the end of this fight…*thumbs up*

  • The SUPERNATURAL POWERS

I dunno…there’s just something about seeing 2 ppl with supernatural powers fighting each other which is very enthralling…haha….i like ARcliGHT ( the 3 girl pic, the girl on the left) power though…SHOCKWAVES…cool…

And…i think ANGEL kinda look like some Greek God…Angel2 …righto? ;)

But of course, to be fair to DV Code…: >

For GORINESS, the Silas’s torturing himself scene will win hands down…VERY QUITE THE REALISTIC…-.-

So conclusion…if u like conspiracy type of movie, watch DV CODE…if u’re like me, simple minded and just want to be entertained, well, X Men should do the job…;)

Ouch!

OO, the prime witness to my misery, LAUGHED everytime she sees my finger and is ever trying to POKE at the bleeding part whenever she have the chance.

YO, being experienced (psst, she actually kemek her finger b4 too), kept telling me about her past experience…-.-

THe winners of course had to be…The King & Queen!

Being very concerned, they kept asking me questions relating to "HOW IN THE WORLD THIS KIND OF THING CAN HAPPEN!"…awfully baffled they are…*.*" probably wonderin which part of their genes actually formed me…hai, couldn’t blame them…-.-

Oh Oh…btw, if anybody ever try to kidnap you and try to drag you forcibly into the car, well, if you happen to see that his hand is anywhere near the door…well, you know wat to do lar…;p but oh, do run far far away after you slammed, coz i’m sure that person wld be really really MAD…-.-

Warded

Visited grandma in the hospital just now.

She just been through 4 hours of operation to cure her blocked tear duct.

                        Tearductblockage

When we reached there, she’s still pale and drowsy, with a back pain and feeling very very weak due to the after-effect of anesthetic, only abling to muster a weak mumble while talking to us.

She haven’t ate anything since 7am in the morning and we couldn’t succeed in convincing her to eat any bit of the porridge provided by the hospital. I think she’s really feeling very awful then.

In the end, it took my cousin bro to save the day! He actually attempted to cook porridge for my grandma himself, which is kinda sweet… First time he’s doing it and it really smell well :)

I think Grandma’s really touched and one really can’t reject such sincerity, so she finally tried to eat some of the porridge even though she don’t really seem to have much of an appetite.

"Ah ma, the porridge hou jiak bou ?" (ah ma, is the porridge nice?)

"hou jiak…tapi er..tam pok kiam…" (nice…but,er.. a bit salty…) ;)

The Queen wanted to help to feed Grandma coz her hands are still weak and she could barely raise much of her hands. But Grandma just kept trying and trying to hold the bowl and bringing the spoon to her mouth herself, but to no avail.

We kept telling her that the anesthetic and all that is still affecting her, but she seems so frustrated….AND i…couldn’t but felt so helpless watching her but not being able to help her nor know wats the best thing to do or say.

Looking at her, I guess i finally knew why she tried so hard to avoid the operation. She’s scared that she might not be able to do simple things like taking care of herself anymore. Afraid to be a burden to ppl around her. I guess when one’s too used to taking care of ppl, its quite traumatising to felt that you might have to be the one being taken care of now.

Somehow, eating a bit of the porridge seems to make her feel much better. After that, she started chatting to us in a more usual volume of voice and she seems more awake.

I guess this is one of the rare times when i’m REALLY glad that i’m a TALKATIVE person, who can talk non-stop as long as u want to continue talking…;p Grandma do seems more cheerful after all the chattings…FINALLY! my irritating ‘talent’ can be put to some use! ^_^

That was when she said she wanted more porridge.

( Translation = she wanted to attempt AGAIN to eat by herself =.= )

This time, she seems to able to raise her hands more now, though she still needed a little assistance from The Queen. Unsurprisingly, by her THIRD attempt a while later, she can eat her food by herself and hold her mineral water by herself too!

And when we are leaving (the visitation’s hours over), i saw the determined look in her face again…

hai, i think she’s going to try to stand up by herself or maybe go to the loo herself after we leave…

"Mama…if you want to go toilet, lu tei this red button, nurse eh lai…"

"……"

"Mama…ji lei red button ah…" ( this red button )

"…aaaahhh….(a bit reluctantly)…."

i really don’t think that THE FACT that we expressly told her many many times that if she wants to get out of bed, she should press the red button to get the nurse for assistance would do much to stop her…*.*

Yup, THat’s my Grandma for you! Astounding determination and will power

Something i really respect from her :)

Hopefully she’ll be able to get well real soon.

Really really hope so.

Keep going on with your dreams

Chasing tomorrow’s sunrise

The spirit can never die

Sun will shine, my friend

WOn’t let you cry, my dear

Seeing you shed a tear

Make my world disappear

You never be alone in darkness

See my smile, my friend

We are with you holding hands

You have got to belive

YOu are my destiny

We’re meant to be your friend

That’s what a friend should be

Till another time and another space…MUuuuACKS!!!

Lessons that we all should learn…sooner…:) in life

April 28th, 2006 by lynst82

I started this blog initially, not as a diary of my life, but to ‘keep’ the things i loved…stuffs i read, stuffs i heard etc…basically jz things that i wanted to remember many years down…So i’m going back to basic here…:)

THis is PART 2 of my post b4…from the same email…

LESSONS WE ALL SHOULD LEARN IN LIFE :)…

1 - First Important Lesson - Cleaning Lady.

During my second month of college, our professor gave us a pop quiz. I was a conscientious student and had breezed through the questions until I read the last one:

"What is the first name of the woman who cleans the school?"

Surely this was some kind of joke. I had seen the cleaning woman several times. She was tall, dark-haired and in her 50s, but how would I know her name?

I handed in my paper, leaving the last question blank. Just before class ended, one student asked if the last question would count toward our quiz grade.

"Absolutely," said the professor. "In your careers, you will meet many people. All are significant. They deserve your attention and care, even if all you do is smile and say "hello."

I’ve never forgotten that lesson. I also learned her name was Dorothy.

2. - Second Important Lesson - Pickup in the Rain

One night, at 11:30 p.m., an older African American woman was standing on the side of an

Alabama

highway trying to endure a lashing rainstorm. Her car had broken down and she desperately needed a ride.Soaking wet, she decided to flag down the next car.

A young white man stopped to help her, generally unheard of in those conflict-filled 1960s. The man took her to safety, helped her get assistance and put her into a taxicab.
She seemed to be in a big hurry, but wrote down his address and thanked him.

Seven days went by and a knock came on the man’s door. To his surprise, a giant console color TV was delivered to his home. A special note was attached.

It read:

"Thank you so much for assisting me on the highway the other night. The rain drenched not only my clothes, but also my spirits. Then you came along. Because of you, I was able to make it to my dying husband’s bedside just before he passed away… God
bless you for helping me and unselfishly serving others.

Sincerely,
Mrs. Nat King Cole. ”

3 - Third Important Lesson - Always remember those who serve.

In the days when an ice cream sundae cost much less, a 10-year-old boy entered a hotel coffee shop and sat at a table. A waitress put a glass of water in front of him.

"How much is an ice cream sundae?"

"Fifty cents"

The little boy pulled is hand out of his pocket and studied the coins in it.

"Well, how much is a plain dish of ice cream?"

By now more people were waiting for a table and the waitress was growing impatient.

"Thirty-five cents"

The little boy again counted his coins.

"I’ll have the plain ice cream"

The waitress brought the ice cream, put the bill on the table and walked away. The boy finished the ice cream, paid the cashier and left. When the waitress came back, she began to cry as she wiped down the table.

There, placed neatly beside the empty dish, was one quarter, two dimes and five pennies.

You see, he couldn’t have the sundae, because he had to have enough left to leave her a tip.

4 - Fourth Important Lesson. - The obstacle in Our Path.

In ancient times, a King had a boulder placed on a roadway. Then he hid himself and watched to see if anyone would remove the huge rock. Some of the king’s wealthiest merchants and courtiers came by and simply walked around it. Many loudly blamed the King for not keeping the roads clear, but none did anything about getting the stone out of the way.

Then a peasant came along carrying a load of vegetables. Upon approaching the boulder, the peasant laid down his burden and tried to move the stone to the side of the road. After much pushing and straining, he finally succeeded.

After the peasant picked up his load of vegetables, he noticed a purse lying in the road where the boulder had been. The purse contained many gold coins and a note from the King indicating that the gold was for the person who removed the boulder from the roadway.

The peasant learned what many of us never understand!
Every obstacle presents an opportunity to improve our condition.

5 - Fifth Important Lesson - Giving When it Counts…

Many years ago, when I worked as a volunteer at a hospital, I got to know a little girl named Liz who was suffering from a rare & serious disease. Her only chance of recovery appeared to be a blood transfusion from her 5-year old brother, who had miraculously survived the same disease and had developed the antibodies needed to combat the illness.

The doctor explained the situation to her little brother, and asked the little boy if he would be willing to give his blood to his sister.

I saw him hesitate for only a moment before taking a deep breath and saying,

"Yes I’ll do it if it will save her."

As the transfusion progressed, he lay in bed next to his sister and smiled, as we all did,
seeing the color returning to her cheek. Then his face grew pale and his smile faded.
He looked up at the doctor and asked with a trembling voice,

"Will I start to die right away?”

Being young, the little boy had misunderstood the doctor; he thought he was going to have to give his sister all of his blood in order to save her.

So…never forget…

"Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that takes our breath away"

have a FANTASTIC DAY k…:)
